WSOP 2008 Begins TODAY!

The 2008 World Series of Poker begins today!

There is obvious excitment in the Poker world about this series of events, but the Question mark is what effect will the economy have on the number of entrants??? The last couple of years have seen HUGE numbers or participants, with over 54,000 Entries last year.

It will be interesting to see if the economy has any affect on the number or particpants this year. Regardless, there will always be the 'name' pros involved, so the series will be exciting either way!

As we have done in years past, we will post daily updates on each event!

Changes in 2008 WSOP Announced

According to a recent article at PokerNews.com
Harrahs has made some interesting(?) changes to the WSOP Main Event format for this year.

The Final table will NOT be played until 117 days AFTER it is determined! They are attempting to utilize this time frame to 'hype' the event, and 'build excitement' about the final table.... hope it does not backfire in their faces!

While I understand their motivation... I don't like the idea. A player with momentum going into the final table, will loose that, and it will feel like a differet event when it is finally played.... guess we'll have to wait and see!
