Online Poker Tournament Turnouts...

A recent article in PokerNews posted some really amazing numbers that I had to pass on everyone here. That link is to the actual article in it's entirity.

What got me interested in the article in the first place were the numbers of players in these events, AND the prize pools awarded! Take a look at these numbers over thie past weekend:

PokerStars $500+30 event drew 2,768 players with a total pool of $1.3M

FullTiltPoker had 2,115 players in their $300K Guananteed event

Mansion had 684players in it's $110K guaranteed event

PartyPoker had 1,313 players in it's $200K Guaranteed event

Bodog had 1,909players in it's $200K event.

Those are HUGE numbers, especially when you consider that most of those touraments took place on Sunday and probably in the same time frames!

WSOP Champ Gold dropped by Bodog

It seems that Bodog, with little explaination, has dropped the sponsorship of Jamie Gold, the 2006 Main Event Texas Holdem Poker Champion! I do not believe ANY past champion has EVER been dropped by a poker room as a sponsor. Just makes you wonder, huh?

Good news about Online Poker!

There is a great article, written by the President of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) regarding actions they are taking in the near future to help with legislation regarding Online poker! I urge EVERY poker player to join the PPA and help in this fight for our natural right to play the game we all love! You can see what the PPA is all about by going to their website HERE

You can read the article in it's entirty HERE!

Some important exerpts:

"The impact has been jarring, as the largest, publicly traded online poker operators shut down services to U.S. players. While many reputable sites still offer services to U.S. players, recent actions to close down payment processors and to subpoena banks are clear indications that the federal government is aggressively pushing the online gambling prohibition.

We don't have to tell you that a prohibition won't work, and in fact will likely cause many more problems than it aims to solve. "

Played in the Club Home game

I went last thursday and played in our club's local homegame. It was really nice to see the guys, and to play some live texas holdem poker for a change. There were 31 players, which is a lot more than there were the last time I played in this game!

I really did not have much in the way of hands to play most of the night, but managed to hold my own, and stay in the game for a long time. When we got down to two tables, I was pretty short, being around 2200, with blinds at 300/600. The first two hands I had once we merged were AJ and AK. I went all in on both. Called on the AJ with another AJ, and no one called the AK all in. Floated along for a while waiting for something to play, when I got A8d on the button, and since I only had 1700 left, I went all in. Picked up the blinds!

Next hand I get AA! I push all in again, of course with 2700.... the small blind who is loose, and has a big stack calls, the big blind ALSO calls, and this is for more than a third of his stack! They check it down, and the big blinds flips JTo! He hist a fucking straight on the river to take me out.... have no idea what he was thinking to call off that much of his stack with that hand....

2007 WSOP Tournament Schedule

The 2007 World Series of Poker Tournament schedule was announced recently, and there are some interesting changes and additions.

I have put up a list of the events by day, and you can see it at POKER TOURNAMENT INFO on the right hand side of this page.

There are some 4 HORSE tournaments this year, which is a HUGE change from the past. That main one last year must have really gotten huge TV ratings, for them to add more. The events added are much less than the $50K enent, but that one is still on the schedule.

The main event looks like it it geared for a maximum of 9,000 players.... it just blows the mind!

Have you noticed

Something Odd, I noticed when playing Texas Holdem Poker tournaments online! EVERYONE that you play against is, in their opinion, better than you, or anyone else at the table. Your every move is criticized at some point or another by some genious that just KNOWS his strategy and ability is FAR superior to yours! LOL

The funny thing is, that this phenom is not limited to high stakes or big buy-in games..... its JUST as prominant in little $2 games. People are funny creatures... gotta love em! ;-)

Back to normal...

Well, after that top 3 cash back in December, things have gotten back to normal.... meaning, I've been taking it up the wahzoo most of the time! It is almost laughable, when you see flops miss, time after time, after time.

Dont get me wrong, I LOVE the game of poker, in all it's forms! I just dont think that the gods of poker care a whole lot for me most of the time! LOL
